Multicultural Youth
Substance Abuse
Prevention Program
The Multicultural Youth Substance Abuse Prevention Program (MYSAP)’s goal is to prevent substance abuse by building positive attitudes, values, behaviors and skills. MYSAP serves culturally diverse at-risk youth between the ages of 4 and 13 years and their families that are experiencing problems relating to behaviors that have caused concern in the home and community in Dallas County.

Services provided by this program include:
• Evidence-based, curriculum-based life skills education classes
• Alternative activities for adults and youth
• Presentations for adults or youth on substance abuse issues in their community
• Community networking and collaboration to promote substance abuse prevention
• Referrals for substance abuse prevention and treatment or other social services

Life Skills Education Classes
Youth in grades K-5 are referred to the classes at schools or community sites by family members, teachers, counselors, after-school program directors, treatment centers, or other social service agencies. MYSAP can provide activities and disseminate substance abuse information at community health fairs, cultural events, and work-place events.
