Programs » Multicultural Youth Substance Abuse Prevention Program
The Multicultural Youth Substance Abuse Prevention Program was established to disseminate information about, and provide education in, substance abuse prevention to the culturally diverse populations of Dallas County. The goal of the program is to prevent substance abuse by building positive attitudes, values, behaviors and skills. The target population is at-risk adolescents between the ages of 4 and 13 years and their families that are experiencing problems relating to behaviors that have caused concern in the home and community.

Within this Program is the Multicultural Education Program (MEP), an 8 to 10 week classroom based curriculum series that provides insight and education to adolescents and families about the dangers of drugs, alcohol and tobacco. Our Prevention Specialists are responsible for mentoring these youth as well as engaging them in entertaining and educational activities.
The goals of these classes are to gain skills in:
Presentations have hands-on activities with comprehensive audience interaction. Referrals for the Youth Substance Abuse Prevention Program can be made by treatment centers, schools, those who are part of the Juvenile Justice System, other social service agencies and family members. To schedule a presentation, please contact our agency and ask to speak with a Drug Prevention Specialist. Courses are available in English, Spanish and Vietnamese.
